Steps to Renew Indian Passport
First and foremost, go to Passport Seva’s official website and create a passport account. You should do so by following these steps:
- Select “New User Registration” from the Passport Service official website.
- Select “Passport Office” and enter your permanent address to get the passport office nearby to you.
- To create a password and login ID, submit information such as your name and email address. Click “Register” after completing the captcha.
- You will subsequently receive an email with a link to activate your account. To activate your account, simply click on it.
- After you’ve created an account on the portal, you can apply for a new passport or renew one you already have.
- You’re now ready to start the online passport renewal process! In addition, you can fill out an e-Form and upload it to the website. The print e-Form, however, cannot be submitted to a PSK or Regional Post Office.That was all there was to it when it came to renewing your passport. When Can You Apply for Passport Renewal?
You can apply for passport renewal up to 1 year before its expiry.
After the end of validity of 5 years or till they attain 18 years (whichever comes earlier) can apply for re-issue. Minors between the age limit of 15-18 years can also apply for a 10-year validity passport.
Documents Required for Passport Renewal
For Adults:
- Old passport
- No Objection Certificate or NOC
- An intimation letter
- Self-attested copies of the following:
- The first and last two pages of your passport
- Validity extension page w.r.t. the short validity passport or SVP
- Non-ECR/ECR page
- Page of observation issued by the passport issuing authority
For Minor Applicants:
- You must bring a current 4.5 X 3.5 cm passport size photograph. The background must be white in the photograph.
- You can submit the current residential address proof in the parent’s name.
- Parents can attest the documents on behalf of a minor.
Moreover, note that the documentation process will differ based on the type of passport renewal (normal or tatkal) and an applicant’s age (adult or minor).
